What «conscious masculinity» means
Conscious masculinity is not a new masculinity or a list of correct behaviours. It is simply the decision to stop living the masculine on autopilot: to look at where your own patterns come from — your father, school, your group of friends, work — and decide which ones you keep and which you do not.
It involves two things that are rarely taught: learning to hold uncomfortable emotions without discharging them onto others, and recognising your own strength without denying it. Neither the man who feels nothing, nor the man who apologises for existing.
The shadow: what goes unlooked at
Jung called the shadow everything we have pushed out of the image we hold of ourselves. In men it usually contains anger, vulnerability, envy, the need to be seen. What is not looked at does not disappear — it comes out through the back door as control, disconnection or exhaustion.
Circle work consists largely of naming that part out loud, in front of other men. That act — saying it and being heard without judgement — is what changes your relationship with the shadow.
The four archetypes
King: the capacity to order, decide and bless. In shadow: the tyrant or the weakling. Warrior: the capacity to set limits and hold a commitment. In shadow: the aggressor or the masochist.
Magician: the capacity to know, transform and hold knowledge. In shadow: the manipulator or the naive one. Lover: the capacity to feel, enjoy and connect. In shadow: the addict or the impotent. Working all four — not only the comfortable one — is the backbone of «The Hero's Path».
How it is practised
Not by reading. It is practised in a group and with regularity: monthly circles, breath and body practice, work with speech, and an annual retreat. Consistency matters more than intensity.
In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria the entry point is the Regular Circle on the first Saturday of the month. For the full journey, «The Hero's Path» is 9 months and 18 meetings with a closed group of up to 20 men.
